Wine Description:
Vin Santo is called the "holy wine" in Italy, and like Passito which is also air-dried, it has many rules, including the requirement of a minimum of three years of aging, and most Vin Santo wines are expensive.
Vin Santo di Carmignano is a DOC that separated from Barco Reale di Carmignano DOC in 2013, and produces two types of wine: Vin Santo and Occhio di Pernice.
Tasting Note:
It offers a gentle aroma of orange peel and almond, a concentrated raisin flavor characteristic of Vin Santo, with a balance of sweetness and tartness, and a lingering rich caramel sweetness. While it has a noticeable sweetness, it's not overpowering, resulting in a well-balanced taste.
